XS ACCOUNT GUIDE

XS account currency: choosing JPY or USD

Not sure whether to choose JPY or USD for your XS account? The bonuses need a JPY MT5 account, and the official pages do not say whether the currency can be changed. Bonus conditions here apply to residents of Japan.

Written and checked by the FX TEXTBOOK editorial officeLast updated: Sources checked: Checked against the official XS Standard account, deposit methods and bonus pages on 30 October 2026 (account currencies for Cent, Pro, Elite and VIP are not stated)

XS's account currency is the base currency in which a trading account shows its balance, profit and loss, and deposits and withdrawals; the Standard account lists 2 options, USD and JPY.

Summary: for the bonuses, choose a JPY MT5 account

  • The Standard account lists USD and JPY as account currencies.
  • The account opening bonus and first deposit bonus, for residents of Japan, apply to JPY MT5 accounts.
  • The help center quotes minimum deposits in USD (bank transfer USD 300 and so on).
  • Whether the account currency can be changed is not stated on the official pages checked.
  • If unsure, decide how you will use the account (bonuses, how you view profit and loss) before opening it.

Is a JPY or USD account better at XS?

If you will use the bonuses, choose JPY. The account opening bonus and first deposit bonus (for residents of Japan) apply to JPY MT5 accounts. If you will not use the bonuses and want profit and loss in US dollars, you can also choose USD.

Are the bonus accounts JPY accounts?

Yes. The account opening bonus applies to the JPY MT5 "Welcome 5000" account, and the first deposit bonus applies to the dedicated JPY MT5 account. USD accounts are not listed as eligible.

Can I change the account currency later?

The official pages checked do not say whether it can be changed. Check the client area or ask support. The conditions for opening additional accounts are also not stated on the pages checked.

Can I deposit yen into a USD account?

You can deposit in a currency different from the account currency, but conversion applies. The official pages do not state the conversion rate or conversion fee. Check the deposit screen.

Why are minimum deposits written in USD?

The help center's deposits page quotes them in USD, such as USD 300 for bank transfer. The deposit methods page also shows yen amounts, such as JPY 1,000 for domestic bank transfer in Japan. Check the deposit screen for amounts in yen.
